TradeStation to Offer Futures Traders Integrated Commitments of Traders (COT) Data at No Cost

Plantation FL, September 8, 2009 – TradeStation, the award-winning broker-dealer for active traders, and a leading provider of integrated strategy testing and automation, announced today that it now offers its clients integrated Commitments of Traders (COT) data at no additional cost for their use in analyzing futures markets and creating, back-testing and executing futures trading strategies.

The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) provides this weekly information about the purchases and sales of futures contracts. COT data gives a detailed breakdown of the number of futures contracts held long, short, or spread by commercial traders (producers and consumers of commodities), non-commercial traders (large speculators such as hedge funds), and other speculative (smaller) traders, and may be used for fundamental analysis of the futures markets.

COT data can be used to show which groups of traders have a position bias in a market direction, which groups may be driving the market trend and which groups are increasing or decreasing position size.

For more information, visit the Support Center at TradeStation.com and click on the QuickTips page (https://www.tradestation.com/support/webinars/quicktips.aspx), where you can download COT materials and watch the Commitments of Traders Data QuickTip, a brief, narrated video demonstration of how COT data can be incorporated in TradeStation charting and analysis.
